Oh The Hot Dog

This weekend was definately a sucess, although it was in disguise. The plan was to hit up a nice colonial town in Honduras and find a good hotel to hunker down in and watch tv. This was done, but being sick in bed was not part of the plan. It did not hinder the events from taking place however, so all was not lost.

Saturday we took the bus to Comoayagua and got there both feeling kinda crappy. Figuring it was just bus-sickness, we thought food was the quick fix. This may have been true, but our choice of Wendy´s was likely not the best. We quickly found a hotel and proceeded to lay in bed for the next couple of hours. We´re thinking it was actually food poisoning. Perhaps the hotdogs we were served with dinner friday night? The tv was good though, so it was okay.

We managed to still go out for dinner and walk about town a bit. But the plans for involving rum were lost. The night was still good, but it ended early of course.

Sunday morning we checked out the parks and churches in town. Comparatively speaking, for a Honduran town it was quite nice. Clean (which is amazing), with the cutest parks and nice little shops. I have finally realized that this country is fairly dead on Sunday mornings however, so getting a real idea of the towns is hard when they´re deserted.

This week we started working on yet another project. We´ve been moving around the projects quite a bit just trying to help out where needed and trying our best to find places that actually need help. The people here are all to happy to accept volunteers, but they are also slow to say when they have enough, which means we have to take it upon ourselves to find the work sometimes. But we´ve got a good place for the last two weeks. And it´s building a brick house, which is nice because it´s different from what we´ve done before.

The countdown is on for the end. Only 8 working days left. It´s great working here, but really, the thought of spending a week on the Bay Islands tanning and scuba diving is really keeping us going. Yes, the countdown is definately on.
